Lavern E. Wolfe
Passed: Wednesday March 21, 2018

Lavern E. Wolfe, age 87, of Uniontown, PA passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Uniontown Hospital. He was born in Uniontown, PA on May 17, 1930, son of the late Earl G. Wolfe and Bertha Ryan Wolfe. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Donna Mae Haught Wolfe and son, Earl Jay Wolfe. Lavern was a 1948 graduate of Uniontown High School. He was a member of Uniontown Church of the Brethren where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. Lavern was the former owner and operator of Wolfe and Wolfe Lumber and Trucking. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Uniontown Savings and Loan, Uniontown Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, Fayette Association of Realtors, board member for Laurel Highlands School District, Fayette County Blind Association, Laurel Lodge #651 F & AM, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the United States Army from 1952 through 1954 during the Korean War. Left to cherish Lavern’s memory are his children, Nancy D. Hough and husband Bernie of West Newton, PA and Mark A. Wolfe of Uniontown, PA; grandchildren Brandi Icard and husband Billy of Roanoke, VA and Justin Wolfe and wife Lindsay of Roanoke, VA and great-grandchildren, Macy Icard, Morgan Icard and Maddox Wolfe. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where the family will receive friends on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the Uniontown Church of the Brethren, Robinson Street, Uniontown, PA from 10 until 11 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Edwin Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. Uniontown Church of the Brethren will conduct a Deacon Prayer Service on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Full military rites will be accorded by AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, PA at the graveside. Donations in memory of Lavern can be made to the Alzheimer Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 1100 Liberty Avenue, Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Fayette Home Care, Your Comforting Care and Uniontown Hospital for their wonderful care of Lavern.
