Frances Coldren
Passed: Wednesday April 4, 2018

Frances Thomas Whyel Coldren, 97, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in Uniontown Hospital. Born in Ft. Martin, WV on August 15, 1920 to Edward Marion Thomas & Ida Ellen Conwell Thomas, Frances was the last living of her 8 siblings. Also predeceasing her were 2 loving husbands, Thomas M. Whyel and Ira B. Coldren, Jr. Fran had a remarkable zest for life and it carried her into her golden years. In the prime of her life she was a member and 3-time Club Champion at Uniontown County Club, member of Western PA Women’s Golf Association, charter member of Uniontown Green Gardeners and Uniontown Art Club. She cherished her friends and family members; she lived her life with a sense of generosity, kindness, grace, and an appreciation for nature and art. She is survived by a daughter Dian VanVoorhis Moore (David) of Stanwood, MI, granddaughter Suzanne Shrum Frank of Uniontown, 2 great-grandchildren, Daniel Gillingham Frank of Uniontown and Vanessa Camille Frank of Vail, CO. She is also survived by 3 step children and numerous other extended family members. Fran’s family would like to thank special friend, companion, and caregiver Vicki Thomas as well as Annie Ulmer and Marla Trincia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In her memory, donations may be made to the Uniontown Green Gardeners or Fort Martin Methodist Church.
