Robert L. “Bob” Genovese
Passed: Tuesday October 4, 2016

Robert L. “Bob” Genovese, age 81, of Hopwood, PA passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Laurel Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born in Uniontown, PA on December 19, 1936 son of the late Theodore “Ted” Genovese and Melissa Smithe Genovese. Robert graduated from Uniontown High School with the class of 1955. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army. Bob worked as a Coal Operator for Genovese Coal Company for 30 years. He coached basketball for 50 years. Bob founded the Independent Softball League in Hopwood. He coached several teams i.e., Uniontown, Tri Valley and Laurel Highlands. Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his former wife, Mary Elleard Genovese; son, Dan Genovese of Smithfield, PA; daughters, Amy Oleksik and husband Matt of LaVale, MD and Laura Genovese of Ft. Washington, PA; sisters, Patricia Hauger of Hopwood, PA and Maurene Bealko and husband Bernard of Uniontown, PA; brothers Lawrence “Larry” Genovese and wife Terri of Uniontown, PA and Theodore Genovese, Jr. and wife Sharon of Chalk Hill, PA; seven grandchildren, Colby Scullion, Alexa Genovese, Mia Genovese, Chelsea Oleksik, Matthew Oleksik, Hollis Miller, and Jackson Miller and special nephews, Rick Hauger, Joe Hauger and Greg Hauger. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 9th from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, Oct. 10th in funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. followed by a service celebrating Bob’s life at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Donald Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. Donations in memory of Bob can be made to the Uniontown YMCA, 1 YMCA Lane, Uniontown, PA 15401 or Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 Dunbar St., Uniontown, PA 15401.
