James Brownfield
Passed: Wednesday March 20, 2019

James F. Brownfield, 77, of Uniontown, PA, passed away March 20, 2019, in Clear Lake Regional Hospital of Webster, TX. He was born November 1, 1941 in Uniontown, son of the late Joseph Jeffries Brownfield and Dorothy Dickey Brownfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Brownfield. Mr. Brownfield was a 1959 graduate of South Union High School, and a 1964 graduate of Waynesburg University, majoring in Geology. He attended West Virginia University for graduate school. He worked for almost 35 years for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, supervising construction projects. These projects included renovation of Ohiopyle, Moraine, and Presque Isle State Parks. Mr. Brownfield loved Arabian horses, and shared this love by publishing booklets identifying bloodlines of Egyptian Arabians. He visited Egypt several time doing research, usually as a “snowbird” during Pennsylvania winters, making friends with local farm owners and government officials in the course of doing his research. He enjoyed traveling and drove through all of the continental United States, taking photographs and collecting Native American art. His hobby was printing and sharing his best pictures. Surviving are a son, George Brownfield and wife, Dana, of Webster, TX, daughter, Christine Chaffin and husband, Marvin of Pensacola, FL, and daughter, Rebecca Brownfield and wife, Megan of Pace, FL. Mr. Brownfield also had seven grandchildren. Arrangement have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA. Interment will take place on May 17th at 11 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery in Uniontown, PA, followed by a noon life celebration at Connellsville Airport Terminal.
