Samuel C. Gallaher
Passed: Friday February 5, 2016

Samuel C. Gallaher, age 78, of Uniontown passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 in the Uniontown Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 29, 1937 in Brownsville, PA, a son of Carl Huber Gallaher and Hilda Jean Kirk Gallaher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers, William Gallaher and his wife Beverly and Kirk Gallaher. Sam was a graduate of Brownsville High School in 1955. He served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army and served for five years. Mr. Gallaher retired after thirty-eight years from PENNDOT as a chief appraiser. He was a member of the Fort Burd United Presbyterian Church, B.P.O. Elks Post #370 of Uniontown, the National Rifle Association, the Penn State University Alumni Association and the A.F.S.C.M.E. Sam served as the treasurer for Local Union #13, Subchapter 8404, Harrisburg. He was an avid gardener, reader and Penn State, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Pirates fan. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. Sam is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Janet O’Brien Gallaher; a son, Samuel Gallaher and wife Jennifer of Jefferson Hills, PA, a daughter, Laura Gallaher of Uniontown and three granddaughters whom he adored, Abby, Emily and Lilly and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where family will receive friends on Monday from 2 until 4 PM and 6 until 8 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Central Christian Church from 10 until 11 AM followed by a service celebrating Sam’s life at 11 AM with Rev. Heather Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at adferguson.com and on facebook.
