Frances Kerfoot Collier
Passed: Tuesday March 1, 2016

Frances Kerfoot Collier, age 90, of Uniontown passed away peacefully on March 1, 2016 in the Golden Living Center. She was born on April 26, 1925 in Uniontown. Frances was very proud of her family. She was the only child of J.D. Kerfoot, (a wounded World War I Veteran that was the city Treasurer of Uniontown) and Pearl McKnight Kerfoot, (a former teacher and State Spelling Bee champion.) Frances was also the mother of three boys that all participated in sports at Laurel Highlands. Frances graduated from Uniontown High School in 1942 and later from Bethany College with a degree in Psychology. She then went on to work for CYS (Child Welfare) for over twenty-five years, often times spending her own money to see that the needs of her foster children were being met. She was a life-long member of Central Christian Church and the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution.) In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her husband Thomas S. (Jiggs) Collier Jr. who operated Collier’s Truck Service, two sons: Thomas S. Collier III and John Samuel (Sammy) Collier. She is survived by one son, Jefferson K. Collier (a retired L.H. teacher of 41 years.); a daughter-in-law, Diane Collier; three grandchildren: Brian Wiles, Thomas S. Collier IV and Katelyn Collier; two great grandchildren: Trey Wiles and Arianna Collier. Franny will always be remembered for her kind heart, quick wit and excitable temperament. The family thanks her caregivers at Golden Living for the loving care, comfort and dignity they provided her. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematories Inc., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA 15401 where the family will receive friends on Monday March 7, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm followed by a service celebrating Frances’ life with Rev. Heather Simpson officiating. Interment will be private at the family’s request. Memories and condolence may be shared with the family at adferguson.com and the funeral home facebook page.
