Clarence W. “Larry George, Jr.
Passed: Monday October 24, 2016

Clarence W. “Larry” George, Jr., age 81, of Hopwood, PA passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 in Lafayette Manor. He was born April 2, 1935 a son of the now late Clarence W. George, Sr. and Bernice Sechler George. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Everly George and brother, James Wesley George. Larry was a 1953 graduate of South Union High School. He was a faithful member of Third Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and past president of the John Knox Bible Class. He was a past member of Uniontown Rotary, Paul Harris Fellow. Laurel Lodge #651 F. & A.M., Fayette Striders and a life member of the Salvation Army Board. Larry enjoyed cycling across the country, race walking, church, family, YMCA and hiking. He was a longtime supporter of the Salvation Army Turkey Trot and Uniontown Triathlon. He served in the United States Army Reserve. Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his wife, Carol Knabenshue George of Hopwood, PA; children Lari Sue Taylor and husband Steven of Berlin, MD; Shelley Mitchell and husband Chris of Ormand Beach, FL; Aimee Jones and husband Adam of Irmo, SC, Michelle Quairiere of Uniontown, PA and Sean Quairiere of Uniontown, PA; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister-in-law Janet George of Uniontown, PA and brother-in-law, William Everly of Chambersburg, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where the family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 3 until 5 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue in Third Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 1 until 2 p.m. followed by a service celebrating Larry’s life at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Colleen Molinero and Pastor Nicholas Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Third Presbyterian Church , 425 Union St., Uniontown, PA 15401or the Salvation Army. 32 West Fayette St., Uniontown, PA 15401.
