Mary R. George
Passed: Wednesday September 20, 2017

Mary R. George, age 89, of Uniontown, PA passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born October 3, 1927 in Uniontown, PA daughter of the late Isaac Rider and Jessie Gault Rider. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband John Apicella and her second husband Clarence C. George and sister Virginia (Ginny) Valentino. Mary was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and Grace Bible Class. She was also a member of Colonel Andrew Lynn Chapter of DAR and PSEA. She graduated from Uniontown High School with the class of 1945, Penn State University with a Degree in Arts and Chatham College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Mary was a Guidance Counselor and Teacher in the Laurel Highlands School District. Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her son Larrie George and wife Vickie of Uniontown, PA; daughters Joyce Apicella of State College, PA, Connie Fike and husband Robert of Hopwood, PA, Debbie Miller and husband Dave of Irwin, PA and Terrie Manges and husband Bob of Uniontown, PA; nephews Samuel Valentino and wife Serena of Boston MA and their children and William (Billy) Valentino and wife Sudha of Charleston, WV; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where friends will be received on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2 until 4 pm and 6 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, September 25, 2017 in Third Presbyterian Church from 10 until 11 am followed by a service celebrating Mary’s life at 11:00 with Rev. Dr. Colleen Molinaro officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in memory of Mary be made to the American Cancer Society.
