James V. Yarris
Passed: Sunday February 16, 2014

James V. Yarris, age 86, of Uniontown passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 16, 2014 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Uniontown, PA on August 1, 1927 son of the late Frank Yarris and Martha Kermes Yarris. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Frank Kerry Yarris and brothers, Harold Yarris and Robert Yarris. Jim was a 60 year member of Third Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He graduated from North Union High School with the class of 1945 and attended Penn State for 2 years. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was employed at Region Electric and later at the Everson Machine Shop of U. S. Steel where he retired after 21 years of service. He was a member of the UMWA and the Czech Society of America. Jim was a home builder and avid wood worker and gardener. Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Nira Suich Yarris of Uniontown, PA, daughters Jamie Filburn and husband F. Russell of Uniontown, PA and Kandy Newell and husband John of Pittsburgh, PA, grandchildren, Corey Filburn, Adam Filburn, Breanna Filburn, Molly Newell, Megan Newell, Macklin Yarris and Keane Yarris, brother, Charles Yarris and wife Mary Louise of Uniontown, PA, sister, Dorothy Polach of Uniontown, PA, sister-in-law, Frances Yarris daughter-in-law, Nancy Yarris and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where the family will receive family and friends Tuesday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Third Presbyterian Church from 10:00 until 11:00 AM followed by a service celebrating Jim’s life at 11:00 AM with Rev. Chris Enoch officiating. Interment will be private. The family suggests donation can be made to Third Presbyterian Church, 425 Union Street, Uniontown, PA 15401.
