Maryann McIntyre
Passed: Thursday April 27, 2017

Maryann McIntyre, age 81, of Hopwood, PA, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at her home. She was born January 11, 1936 in Fairchance, Pa daughter of the now late Andrew E. Czekanski and Emilia Leech Czekanski. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Ernest Czekanski, Stephen Czekanski and Andrew Czekanski and sisters, Sophia Sidor and Sylvia Susa. Left to cherish Maryann’s memory are her husband, William McIntyre, Jr of Hopwood, PA; daughter, Valerie Faris and husband Richard of Uniontown, PA; sons, William S. McIntyre, III and wife Meo of Washington, PA, David A. McIntyre and wife Beth of Hopwood, PA and Steven A. McIntyre and wife Darlene of Uniontown, PA; sisters, Velma Ramps of Youngstown, OH, Frances Johns of Smithfield, PA and Emilia Patrick of Youngstown, OH; grandchildren, Marissa, Angelica and Michael Miskanin, III; Michelle Hickman; and Bailey, Clancy, Peyton and Dawson McIntyre; one great grandson, Abraham Gartley and many nieces and nephews. Maryann was a mother and homemaker. She graduated from Georges Township High School with the class of 1954. Maryann enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking. She was a den mother, assistant troop treasurer for BSA Troop 682 in Hopwood, worked with Coach Bob Ulery to establish the Laurel Highlands Wrestling Team Boosters in the 1970’s. Maryann was also a Uniontown Hospital volunteer and a member of the U. S. Steel Mining Ladies Bowling League. She worked at Teeks and Petrey’s Shoe Stores at the Mall in the 1970’s. Maryann and her husband Bill moved to Proctorville, OH, near Huntington, WV in 1980. They were active members of St. John’s Episcopal Church where Maryann served as an office volunteer. Maryann and Bill made numerous furniture items for the church. They were very active in round and square dancing in the Huntington and Ashland, KY area. In addition to local dance events, they attended square dance festivals each year, which took them to several Kentucky State Parks, Gatlinburg, TN and Kirkwood Lodge in Missouri. Maryann and Bill returned to PA in 2009 to a new home in Hopwood. They were active member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church where Maryann served as an office volunteer, food pantry volunteer and other activities. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA where the family will receive friends on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 2:00 until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, May 1, 2017 at St. Peters Anglican Church from 10 until 11 AM followed by a service celebrating Maryann’s life at 11:00 am with Father John T. Cruikshank officiating. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Maryann can be made to St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 60 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or a charity of choice.
