Charles William “Bill” Holman, was born in Uniontown, PA on September 23, 1930. Bill passed away at the age of 83 years on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in Rockville, MD, where he had lived for the past 48 years.
Bill received a B.S. Degree in Education from the California University of PA and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of West Virginia in 1955. He served in the U. S. Army in Germany from 1955 to 1957 as a cryptographer. He chose to remain in the Army Reserves and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1990.
Bill served as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Mt. Lebanon School District in Pittsburg, PA from 1958 to 1963, when he joined the Central Intelligence Agency from which he retired in 1992. He worked for Westat as a data processor from 1993 and retired from that position in 2010. Bill was a member of Fayette Lodge 228 F & A M, the Royal Order of Scotland, the Syria Shriners, Mercedes-Benz club and the Lakewood Country Club. Bill was also a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Uniontown, PA.
Bill was married to Marjorie Holman for 42 years until her death in 1997. They had no children. In 2004, he married a childhood friend, Elizabeth L. “Betty” Robinson.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty, his sister-in-law, Eleanor Sincevich and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where family and friends may call on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 10:00 AM until Noon. A service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at Noon with Rev. Becky Dittenhaver celebrating. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
