Judith (Judy) Traynor Vrabel passed away at home on March 29, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 8, 1939 in Uniontown to the late Thomas E. Traynor Jr., who passed away on April 9, 1966, and Audrey Irene Colbert Traynor who passed away on August 17, 1958. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John S. Vrabel Sr. who passed away on October 14, 1991, her sister Lois Jane Traynor Treat and nephew Billy Treat who both passed away on June 9, 1983. She was also preceded in death by another nephew Joseph Traynor.
Judy was a member of St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and part of the Christian Mothers. She served as a member of the Excelsior Club. She was on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army and Fayette Career & Technical Institute and volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program along with ushering at The State Theater.
Judy worked at Thrift Drug in downtown Uniontown as a soda jerk through her time at North Union High school up until graduation with the Class of 1957. She was employed at North Union Junior High School as the secretary to the principal until the birth of her first child. She also worked at the Uniontown Hospital for 29 years. She retired from the hospital and began working for the City of Uniontown as the Director of Downtown Business District Authority. Since 2010, she also enjoyed employment with the Builders Association of Fayette County.
Judy graduated from Duquesne University’s First Saturday Program in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in business. She followed this with a Master’s Degree in business in 2000.
She is survived by her two sons: John S Vrabel Jr. and his husband John E. Fullgraf of Saint Petersburg, Florida and James S. Vrabel and his wife Susan of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by her sister Mary M. Barcheck and husband Edward. Her niece, Audra Solarchick and husband Jason and their two children Cole and Callie whom she adored. Her nephew, Nick Barcheck who has been the light of her life. She loved Nick since the day he was born.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas E. Traynor and wife Carol of Jeanette, Pennsylvania and their children Thomas and Fred. She is survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was particularly close to her niece Marlene Vrabel of Masontown, Pennsylvania and friend Sandra Tracy of Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC, 80 MORGANTOWN ST., UNIONTOWN. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass celebrating Judy’s life on April 3rd, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, PA to celebrate Judy’s life which she lived to the fullest.
She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Leckrone, PA beside the love of her life, John S. Vrabel who she has missed for the past 34 years.
