William H. Mendis, 85, of Uniontown, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born on July 31, 1938 in Uniontown.
Son of the late Anthony Henry Mendis and Martha (Stets) Mendis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald, and his wife’s parents, George & Blanche (Bunda) Hozak.
Bill graduated from Uniontown High School in 1957. He retired from Fike’s Dairy after 24 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club and The Polish Club.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Georgianna (Hozak) Mendis; daughters, Kimberly Lynn Duffy & husband William of Raleigh, NC and Lisa A. Hager of Uniontown; his granddaughter, Courteny Nicole Hager & partner Mikey Wateska of Pittsburgh;
sister, Jean Oglevee (Joe), of St. Augustine, Florida; Sisters-in-law Terri Sabol (Ron) and Cindi Deegan (Tim) all of Uniontown, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Family & friends will be received on Tuesday, December 5 from 4 until 8pm at Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home, 8o Morgantown Street, Uniontown.
Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 6 from 8:30-9:30am followed by prayers of transfer.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Bill’s Life will be held at 10:00am in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
Burial will be at Mt. Macrina Cemetery.
